Dimosthenis Mitsis was the founder and major benefactor of the Mitsi Lethymno School. The school was founded in 1912. The initiative for the bust was taken by the Mitsi School board on the occasion of 90 years since the establishment of the school. The unveiling took place on May 21^st 2003.
