The memorial is dedicated to Takis Vasiliou (Τάκης Βασιλείου), Frixos Panayiotou (Φρίξος Παναγιώτου), Klitos Mandridis (Κλείτος Μανδρίδης), Georgios Stavrou (Γεώργιος Σταύρου), and Christodoulos Christodoulou (Χριστόδουλος Χριστοδούλου). The initiative for its construction was taken by Alaminos’ “Aetos” (Eagle) sports union and the unveiling took place on July 20th 1999.

The memorial was commissioned by the Cypriot Organisation of Greek Teachers (ΠΟΕΔ/ POED) and the Frenaros Community. The unveiling of the monument took place on February 26th 1961.

The bust was concluded in 2001 and the unveiling of the monument took place on May 18th 2001. On the right-hand side page of the open notebook behind Pittas, is noted his phrase “Every fighter is a free person” (Ο κάθε αγωνιζόμενος είναι και ελεύθερος), while on the left-hand side page a poem-style short text of his is dedicated to the beauty and glory of Cyprus.
